BARATHRUS: The Bone-Silt Trench

The story

In the pitch-black depths of the Barathrus Trench, the deep-sea dredge rig Sub-Sector 9 ruptures a buried prehistoric crustal chamber. The breach unleashes the Chitin-Leth—a hundred-foot-long blind leviathan coated in armored bone plates that hunts purely through sonic vibration. The monster attacks the rig's structural pylons, flooding lower decks and disabling primary thrusters. Chief Engineer Mara Vance and sonar technician Tess Kai suit up in heavy atmospheric diving armor to repair the power core on the ocean floor while avoiding the creature's acoustic sweeps. Veteran mechanic Jonas Reed sacrifices himself to lure the beast away from the main hub with heavy acoustic charges. With time running out and the rig collapsing into the chasm, Mara lures the monster into the massive industrial silt-processing shredder blades, overloading the thermal reactor to crush the leviathan beneath collapsing basalt cliffs while Mara and Tess blast to the surface in an emergency escape bell.
