FERROVIA: The Cobalt Ridge

The story

On the storm-wracked desert world of Ferrovia, a silent courier named Kael boards the automated Leviathan Express carrying a stolen, glowing fusion core. Mid-transit, the train's security system detects the unverified bio-signature and releases quad-pedal mechanical track-hounds onto the exterior hull. Forced out onto the train's roof in sub-zero winds, Kael fights off the metal predators using magnetic boots and flare-hooks. Midway through the journey, the mercenary scavenger Vane ambushes Kael, seeking the core's black-market bounty. As violent lightning strikes illuminate the speeding iron cars, Kael and Vane duel across slippery container tops and the burning ember-bed of the coal tender. Kael tricks Vane into striking an unshielded power coupling, sending the scavenger plunging into the electrified railway grid. Severely wounded, Kael crawls into the cab engine room with seconds to spare, slotting the pulsing core into the failing reactor just as the rear cars detonate, surging the train into the glowing sanctuary of the terminal city.
