SOLARION: The Amber Whalefall

The story

On the floating archipelago of Solarion, twelve-year-old scrap-scavenger Pip and her towering, moss-covered brass golem, Tock, witness the crash of a majestic bioluminescent sky-whale onto the dangerous Sunken Crags. Knowing the whale's glowing amber heart can restart her village's dead storm-shield generator, Pip and Tock launch their rocket-powered sand-ski glider to reach the impact site. They face intense competition from the merciless Captain Vane and his fleet of iron-clawed dune-skimmers. After navigating treacherous glass dust-storms and outmaneuvering Vane's traps inside the whale's colossal crystalized skeleton, Pip retrieves the pulsing core. However, Vane corners them at the edge of a sheer cliff. Using clever teamwork, Tock converts his own mechanical chassis into a zipline launcher, allowing Pip to swing across a roaring sky-chasm. Pip reaches the village power plant just as a dark frost-storm descends, slotting the glowing amber core into place to illuminate the entire sky-haven and power its protective shield, leaving Vane stranded in the dark.
