VAPORIS: The Boiling Coast

The story

In the scalding, fog-choked basin of Vaporis, salvage engineer Vesper and her deaf apprentice Bram brave the high-heat salt deserts to strip dead thermal rigs. While drilling into a deep geothermal core, they unknowingly awaken the Crust-Stalkers—massive, blind, heat-seeking leviathans with porcelain-plated carapaces. As the creatures rise and obliterate their transport lander, Vesper and Bram are forced to trek on foot through claustrophobic steam vents and underground sulfur caves. They use cold-water canisters and high-intensity strobe flares to manipulate the blind monsters' heat sensors. After Bram becomes isolated inside a decaying pump station, Vesper lures the massive Apex Leviathan into a pressure-locked cryo-chamber. Bram triggers the airlock controls, flash-freezing the behemoth in liquid nitrogen. Exhausted and battered, the pair climb out of the cavernous abyss into the cool twilight air of the upper plateau as the remaining swarm retreats back into the dark steam.
