VERDIA REACH: The Canopy Engine

The story

On the endless forest world of Verdia Reach, twelve-year-old Maeve works aboard a sky-rail monorail suspended among giant mile-high trees. When a swarm of clockwork iron locusts invades the upper canopy and begins harvesting the forest's bio-electricity, Maeve and her younger brother Pip recover the glowing blue Heart-Crystal—the central power source that keeps the canopy alive. With the locust swarm in hot pursuit, they board the rusted brass train alongside veteran Conductor Gideon. They race along perilous, decaying tracks high above the sea of clouds, repairing broken rails on the fly and outmaneuvering flying mechanical beetles. After a dramatic track collapse, Gideon stays behind to manually hold the switch, sending Maeve and Pip plunging into the dark, hollow interior of the ancient mother tree. Navigating through slumbering swarms in the dark, Maeve scales the giant internal clockwork core and slots the Heart-Crystal into place just as the Lead Locust strikes. The restored engine unleashes a blinding shockwave of blue bio-energy, deactivating the mechanical invaders and sending light surging through the entire forest network.
